The School of Georgian Heritage is the cornerstone program of our foundation, dedicated to preserving and promoting the Georgian language and culture for future generations. In collaboration with the National Center for Professional Development of Teachers in Georgia, we are proud to offer a comprehensive online language program specifically designed for children in the diaspora, where Georgian is taught as a Second Language.
This approach is critical for children born outside of Georgia, as it ensures they are learning Georgian in a way that acknowledges their primary language may be different. Teaching Georgian as a second language helps children grasp the fundamentals more effectively by focusing on vocabulary, grammar, and communication skills at a pace suited for non-native speakers. This method provides the right tools for children to confidently engage with the language and connect with their cultural roots.
Through this carefully structured program, funded by the Georgian Heritage Foundation, classes are held twice a week via the TEAMS platform, making the Georgian language accessible to diaspora children. Our goal is to empower Georgian youth to maintain strong ties to their heritage, language, and identity, wherever they are in the world.
